Description

Exceptional example of the standard pattern of 9 button Union officer frock circa 1862-1863 for a line officer in artillery.  The coat has all original buttons present other than for two missing on the back as shown.  There are only a very few minor insect holes in the fine broadcloth grade dark navy colored blue wool.  The coat has a full original lining of greenish polished cotton and both sleeves are lined in off white cotton.  Overall, it is very sound and ready for a new home in a Civil War collection!

The coat originally was found in an estate in Maryland and purchased by a Massachusetts dealer who then sold it to a dealer in Tennessee.  We obtained it at a show in Marietta, Georgia and had a fine set of excellent 1st Lieutenant of Artillery shoulder straps added to enhance the visual display.  The straps are only tacked down at the corners in case the collector prefers another rank or none at all.

Artillery officer tunics are far more uncommon to find than infantry officer examples in the collector world–so here it is, waiting for YOU to take it home!
