Honest and original as they come, this cartridge box was recently sold at an estate auction near Dayton, Ohio, but had no specific soldier history. It is the standard issue box for rifle muskets caliber .58 and retains both inner tins. Of special interest is the outer US plate is in fact a BELT plate with the prongs altered–I did not remove it to see if it was maker marked or named. The overall condition is good to very good with minor flaking, field use wear and scratches as shown.
