Description
This is a nice solid example of the standard issue holster used during the Civil War for infantry, cavalry and artillery troops. Designed to fit the M1860 Colt Army and the M1858 Remington as well, this item can also be used for the Colt Navy patterns and several other percussion revolvers of the era. At some point in time, a nice little eagle staff button was added to the front flap. The leather has been reinforced at the latch tab and near the belt loop as shown and the base plug, as with most examples, is missing or was removed in the field (so debris or rain wouldn’t be held in). The leather is supple with very little crackling or crazing. These holsters have become near impossible to find “on the loose” in recent years—don’t miss this one!
