Description
This small flag (about 16” x 22) just popped out of an estate sale near Marion, Virginia with the notation it was used by a local cavalry unit. The only other Civil War related item was a Tower Enfield rifle musket made by Barnett which was not noted as being associated with the flag. Unfortunately, no other history is available other that it appears to have been archival grade framed in the 1980s. It is all hand sewn of wool bunting with 2-ply “Z” twist cotton thread with linen stars and the materials of construction are correct for the era. We did not dismount it to see the reverse, as the cost of framing is so expensive. Overall condition shows wear and period use and colors remain strong.
