Description
This is a very honest example of the standard Civil War US Medical Staff (Surgeon) sword with original scabbard. The maker name is Virgil Price who manufactured blades only from 1851-1864 in New York City. This sword has the standard “MS” on the outer guard and the etching “Medical Staff” on the blade as well as Masonic emblems. This is a pretty scarce variant which has a brass mounted leather scabbard, unlike most, which have brass scabbards. There is a tiny bit of shrinkage but the blade fits well and the leather is unbroken.
