Description

This is an interesting old gun–it appears to be a Model 1863 but has a Model 1861 hammer and barrel.  The stock cartouches are extremely crisp and the ESA (for E. S. Allen, Springfield inspector) is incredibly strong.  The bands are typical for a late M1863 Type II or a M1873 series–the blued finish is original.  It retains the original sight but is missing the ramrod.  Perhaps it was assembled from parts or upgraded by a shooter after the War–either way, it is basically complete and if you have a M1861 that needs a fine stock, it would be worth the swap!  Bargain priced for what the stock alone would cost today, IF you could find one.
