Description
This exceptional sword and scabbard is about as untouched as you will ever find! The grip retains the full leather and twisted, double strand double brass wire wrap and the hilt patina is a deep mustard brown. The Ames maker, inspector and date marks are crisp and legible and the blade is in fine condition with a perfect tip and only very minor edge nicks from field use. If you want one that was THERE and hasn’t been messed with in over 160+ years, you have found it. There is a visible rack number stamped in the knuckle bow but no clue as to which regiment used it.
