Description

Very nice and solid example of the most common Confederate infantry weapon of the Civil War, the P53 Tower rifled musket.  Chambered in .577, this percussion long gun was fitted with a long range rear sight and mounted in brass.  The lockplate is clearly dated 1862 and the barrel proofs of 25-25 indicate .577 caliber.

The South imported over 600,000 of these weapons of several patterns but the most advanced and most used was the Pattern 1853.  The buttstock is deeply struck with the Confederate import mark of Sinclair Hamilton and Company next to the buttplate tang.

Other than for an old crack forward of the lockplate, this weapon is as untouched and unmolested as you will ever find.  The bore is strong and the action is crisp and tight.  There are no missing or replaced parts.

Weapons like this are not getting easier to find–luckily we have tapped into an old 55+ year collection so we are pulling out some gems!
