Description

Fine original tintype of a Union enlistedman holding his M1816 .69 caliber musket with bayonet affixed.  He is wearing a standard issue 9 button frock coat and wears his cartridge box at his side, his cap box on his belt and both the eagle breastplate and oval US buckle are clearly visible.  His forage cap rests on his left knee.  His name is lost to time, but his image surfaced at an estate auction in Illinois.  The image is encased with a gilt brass matte, glass and cardboard/leather/velvet hard case.
