Description
This is a fine example of a Sheffield, English spear point bowie knife as carried by Civil War soldiers in the North and the South. This particular knife is etched on both sides “Do not draw me without reason or sheath me without honour” which is a very classic motif of the mid-19th century. Knives such as this were heavily imported from the 1840s era through the 1860s. Great example of a personal protection blade in near pristine condition overall. Etching is a bit weak but visible.
