Description
This is a standard example of the brown leather belt set with over the shoulder strap worn by line rank troops of the SA in Nazi Germany in the WWII era. The SA, or Sturmabteilung, was the original paramilitary wing of the Nazi Party in Germany. It played a crucial role in Hitler’s rise to power by providing a violent, street-fighting force that intimidated political opponents and helped the Nazi Party maintain order. The SA were known for their brown uniforms, earning them the nickname “Brownshirts”. While they initially served a political purpose of expanding Nazi influence, some within the SA envisioned a larger military role for the organization.
