Description
This is a very fine example of a Model 1 Smith and Wesson 2nd Issue .22 rimfire revolver, 7-shot. This beauty surfaced in an estate sale in Pennsylvania where it was reported as having been carried by an ancestor in the Civil War. The serial number 59688 puts the production date circa late 1861 to early 1862. Mechanically, the revolver functions as new with a perfect bore. Over 90%+ original finish remains and the beautiful rosewood grips retain 100% original varnish. These small handguns were favorites of Civil War soldiers in the field as backups WHEN they could snag one! If you want a near MINT example of one of the most famous secondary metallic cartridge revolvers of the Civil War, you have found it.
