Originally manufactured in percussion beginning in 1863, this particular pattern dates after 1873 and up until 1888 but only a total of 2,500 to 3,000 were produced.  Some of these were conversions but many left the factory as cartridge arms.  Lightweight and powerful, these weapons were the only serious rivals to Colt’s Single Action Army revolvers for decades.  This is not an easy weapon to find.
