Description
This is a stunning example of the US Model 1850 Infantry Officer sword as carried by foot officers of the Union Army during the Civil War. The sword retains 99%+ original frosting and gilt to the brass mounts and the grip, made of shagreen, is near perfect! The original red felt throat washer is still present as well. The blade is 3/4 etched with US, the American flag and assorted patriotic florals and scrolls. The leather scabbard is near fine but has minor scuffing as shown–easily remedied by some brown shoe polish!
If you want a FLAT MINT example, here it is!
