Description

Found in a small estate auction on the Outer Banks, these epaulettes are identified to a Captain in the 17th NC who fought at the Battle of Roanoke Island.  They are antebellum examples of the green felt tinted rifleman fringed pattern with an eagle R button on each.  Accessories such as this were commonly used early in the Civil War by Confederate and Union forces but to find Southern ones with an ID — near impossible!  Very rare uniform items.
