Description
This is a WWII US Army GI veteran bring back teller shaped Army visor cap for enlisted or NCO ranks of the Panzer and Wehrmacht Heer (Army) artillery troops. The cap is a size 56 with a full celluloid sweat shield on the interior lining and manufactured of diagonal weave tricot gray-green wool made with vivid bright red felt piping . The style and form of this hat dates to around 1938-40. The interior of the cap shows wear and use with a few abrasions to the leather sweat band. There is age crazing to the chin strap and there are a few scattered small moth holes which are located mostly on the top and edges of the cap as visible from the posted images.
This is a field combat style hat with removed hardener steel spring for a better and more fashion appearance. The embroidered high-quality wreath and aluminum early war eagle is original to the hat. Other than the insect damage and being squashed in a WW2 veteran’s field chest for 74+ years, this is a dead real and great looking piece of military history for any collection or display.
