Description

This is a well marked Civil War era boot pistol as made by Allen and Wheelock of Worcester, Massachusetts in the late 1850s.  The simple bar hammer design, a true double action, fired a massive .44 projectile!  It features a part octagonal, part round rifled barrel and measures about 7.5″ overall.  The frame is simply engraved and the walnut bag grips are in fine condition.

Civil War soldiers often carried these small back up weapons in the field for personal, up close protection!

The action is sluggish but functional–likely needs a good cleaning!
