Description

RARE Starr’s Patent Single Shot Deringer made circa 1864 in Baltimore, Maryland by the Merrill Patent Firearms Mfg. Company. Only 800 of these small .41 rimfire derringers were ever made, Eben T. Starr was most famous for his innovative Starr Model 1858 Double Action Revolver, the third most prolific handgun of the American Civil War. This pistol was intended for use as a 19th century “backup” conceal and carry weapon: a small gun with a large and potent bore! This Deringer features a brass frame with a side-mounted hammer and a tip-up barrel. Starr’s patent information is stamped on the left side of the gun.
