Description

The purest form of American fighting dagger, this finely hand crafted weapon in form dates from the early 1800s to the Civil War era.  It has a wonderful bulbous chestnut grip with an iron ferrule and simple sheet iron guard.  The spear tip, double edged blade has a median ridge the full length of the 10.5″ blade and is clearly made of annealed hand forged iron.  The taper of the blade at the ricasso to the guard is typical of belt daggers made in both Arkansas and Missouri in the late 18th to mid 19th century.
