Description
This small gem was once in the famed collection of Robert McCauley of Maryland and recently surfaced on the collector market along with several dozen similar items that remained in the family, just as found in an old storage box long forgotten!
While appearing a bit plain, these flasks are rarely ever recognized for what they are–a real key is the size of the charger spout opening and the shape, neatly manufactured to easily fit in the walnut cases many of the weapons left the Colt factory in. While it was likely available for use with other percussion pistols of the era, the style was specific to the Colt.
The only detraction is that the previous owner clearly liked to polish his brass!
